Who each tool is for
Invoice Home suits a small business that wants lots of choice in how the invoice looks (they advertise more than 100 templates and ready-made logos), keeps all records in an online account, and wants clients to pay online by card or PayPal.
Duebolt suits someone who wants to open a page, fill in the job and download a PDF in a minute, with no account and no cap on the amount billed. You get three clean templates and five accent colours rather than a large gallery.

Where Duebolt is the better fit
- Your invoices are bigger than the free cap. One wedding, one bathroom refit or a month of consulting can pass $1,000 on its own. Duebolt's free generator has no amount limit.
- You'd rather not create an account. Duebolt remembers your business, clients and items on your device. Sign in only if you want sync across devices.
- You work under specific tax rules. Duebolt knows the tax names, usual rates and registration numbers for 24 countries: GST with your Business Number in Canada, VAT in the UK, GSTIN in India.
- You want a predictable price. Pro is $5 a month and stays at that price while you're subscribed, or $49 for life.
Where Invoice Home is the better fit
Invoice Home does several things Duebolt deliberately doesn't. Choose it if these matter to you:
- Online payments. Clients can pay an invoice by PayPal or card through Stripe, and paid invoices are marked automatically.
- Design choice. More than 100 templates, plus free logos if you don't have one yet.
- Apps in the stores. There is an Invoice Home app for iOS and Android that syncs with the web account.
- Excel reports and a one-click archive you can forward to your accountant.
If your total stays under the free limit each month, the free plan may be all you need.
How to switch from Invoice Home to Duebolt
- Use Invoice Home's download archive to keep PDF copies of everything you've sent.
- Note your last invoice number (say INV-0041) and any open estimates.
- In the Duebolt editor, open the invoice details and set the number to INV-0042. Numbering continues automatically after that, with separate series for estimates and receipts.
- Add your logo and payment details (Interac e-Transfer, bank, PayPal) once.
- Retype each client the first time you bill them in Duebolt; there is no import from Invoice Home.
Let unpaid Invoice Home invoices finish there, especially ones with an online payment link.
