Who each tool is for
Zoho Invoice is for a small business that bills the same clients over and over and wants the system to do the chasing: recurring invoices, automatic payment reminders, a client portal, online payment gateways, time logged against projects, and links to other Zoho apps such as Zoho Books and Zoho CRM.
Duebolt is for the moment you need one correct document now. Open the page, fill in the client and the work, download the PDF. There's no account to set up, no organization profile and nothing to configure before the first invoice.

Where Duebolt is the better fit
- No account, no setup. You can send the first invoice before Zoho's signup form would be finished.
- No branding line. Zoho says its free plan carries "Powered by Zoho Invoice" branding. Duebolt documents carry your logo and nothing else.
- No inactivity clean-up. Zoho's FAQ says data of users inactive for over 180 days is deleted after a further 20 days unless they log in or back it up. Duebolt keeps what you make on your device, and Pro keeps your full history in the cloud.
- Receipts and proforma invoices. Both are their own document types in Duebolt, with their own numbering.
- Local rules out of the box. 24 countries and 12 languages, including registration numbers and legal lines like France's 293 B note.
Where Zoho Invoice is the better fit
For a business with regular clients, Zoho Invoice does a lot that Duebolt doesn't do at all:
- Recurring invoices sent on a schedule.
- Online payments by card, ACH or e-wallet through payment gateways.
- A self-service client portal where clients view and pay invoices and respond to quotes.
- Time tracking and projects, with the amount owed calculated for you.
- Expense recording and sales and receivables reports.
- Integrations with Zoho CRM, Analytics and Books, and apps on four platforms.
- Free email and phone support, which they list as 24/5.
If you bill a retainer every month, Zoho's recurring invoices alone may decide it.
How to switch from Zoho Invoice to Duebolt
- Save PDF copies of your past invoices from Zoho Invoice while your account is active, so you keep a record outside it.
- Find your last invoice number, for example INV-0026.
- In the Duebolt editor, set the next number to INV-0027 once. Invoices, quotes and receipts each continue in their own series.
- Add your logo, EIN or VAT number and bank details to the business section.
- Recreate clients one by one as you bill them; Duebolt has no Zoho import.
If you rely on recurring invoices, note that Duebolt doesn't send them automatically. Use Duplicate in your account and change the month instead.
