Who each tool is for
Invoice Simple is built for contractors and service businesses who want an app on their phone that handles the whole money side: estimates, invoices, card and ACH payments, reminders, reports and expense tracking. If you want clients to tap a link and pay right away, it is designed for that.
Duebolt is for people who mainly need a correct, good-looking document without signing up or paying for a plan. You fill in the invoice in the browser, download the PDF and send it however you like. Clients pay you directly by bank transfer, Zelle, check or whatever you print on the invoice.

Where Duebolt is the better fit
- You send a lot of invoices but don't want a monthly bill. Downloading PDFs in Duebolt stays free with no monthly cap, and Pro is a flat $5 (locked as long as you stay) or $49 once.
- You bill outside the US. Duebolt sets the tax name, currency, registration numbers and paper size for 24 countries, and prints the document in 12 languages. A plumber in Germany gets the § 19 UStG note; a sole trader in Australia gets "Tax invoice" with the ABN.
- You need more than invoices. Quotes and proforma invoices have their own number series (QTE-, PRO-) next to INV-, RCT- and EST-.
- You don't want an account at all. Your business details, clients and items are remembered on the device.
Where Invoice Simple is the better fit
Be honest with yourself about getting paid. If clients often say "can I just pay by card?", Invoice Simple collects that money for you, and Duebolt does not. Pick Invoice Simple if you want:
- Card, ACH, PayPal and Venmo payments right from the invoice, plus deposits and partial payments.
- A native app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Expense tracking with receipt scanning by phone camera, and revenue reports.
- Client signatures on documents (Premium) and more than 60 templates.
- Supplier cash-back rewards, which they list with The Home Depot Pro and Sunbelt Rentals.
If all of that is what you need, it is worth paying for.
How to switch from Invoice Simple to Duebolt
- Write down the number of your last Invoice Simple invoice, for example INV-0187.
- Open the invoice generator, tap the invoice details and type the next number, INV-0188. From then on Duebolt counts up by itself.
- Add your business once, with your logo and how clients pay you.
- Re-enter your regular clients the first time you bill them. There is no import, so most people add each client as their next invoice comes up.
- Keep PDF copies of your old invoices for your records before your Invoice Simple subscription ends.
Open invoices you already sent stay with Invoice Simple. Finish collecting those there, and start new work in Duebolt.
